    Description
    The PQ Corporation- North America Silicates is adding to its team an Accounting Manager, US & Canada.

    The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, at least 5-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing company, and strong Excel and GAAP knowledge.

    The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of one and managing month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a passion for detail, and the ability to execute strategic plans effectively.


    Major Tasks:

    • General accounting
    • Oversee monthly close process
    • Load financial data to consolidation tool
    • Review journal entries and account reconciliations
    • Assistance with external audit
    • Assistance with annual budgeting process

    Responsibilities:
    Responsible for the monthly and year end close process

    • Maintain and review the general ledgers for domestic companies
    • Monthly closing and general ledger maintenance, review and analysis
    • Preparation and review of monthly journal entries
    • Preparation and review of monthly accrual accounts and account reconciliations
    • Upload SAP data to consolidation tool, monthly
    • Complete various forms in consolidation tool in conjunction with month end close
    • Reviewing account fluctuations on a monthly basis
    • General accounting
    • Oversee general accounting activities for US and Canada entities
    • Oversee the Fixed asset and Capex projects
    • Work closely with plants and management to ensure timely closure of capex projects
    • Manage and develop Senior accountant
    • Reconcile intercompany transactions
    • Support cost accounting team as needed
    • Reconcile and analyze GR/IR accounts, work with purchasing to resolve discrepancies
    • Establish and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and guidelines for accounting transactions
    • Maintain and support blackline account reconciliation process
    • Proactively recommend process improvements regarding monthly and year-end accounting processes and procedures
    • Generate and maintain organized workpapers supporting general ledger accounts
    • Assistance with annual budget process
    • Support financial request from the other departments, including treasury, tax and legal departments
