The Assistant/Associate Director of Young Alumni Giving reports to the Director, Annual Giving Programs and is responsible for the implementation and oversight of programs to encourage and increase giving from the graduates of the last decade (GOLD) cohort to Boston College in their reunion and post-reunion years.
Particular emphasis will be placed on increasing the number of annual donors in a 5th and 10th Reunion cycle as well as retaining said donors in the year(s) following reunion.
The Assistant/Associate Director is responsible for soliciting gifts from reunion committee members and partnering with fundraising colleagues to secure a growing number of annual gifts in the range of $1,000 to $25,000 in honor of the 5th and 10th reunion.
The Assistant/Associate Director is expected to travel locally to solicit alumni in GOLD classes.
This metric-driven position will be measured on progress to goals for volunteer giving and the reach of volunteer fundraisers, the number of personal solicitations and the amount of annual leadership commitments to Boston College.
The ideal candidate will have a depth of knowledge about best practices in the intersection of engagement activities leading to larger philanthropic support, including using social media and other communication tools to connect with young alumni, which they can then develop for BC.
They will be a thought partner with the Director as well as be creative and self-driven in their approach to their work.
The expectation is that they will collaborate with colleagues across Advancement including Marketing and Communications, Programs & Events, Athletics, Annual and Leadership Giving, and Prospect Research.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:Assistant Director:
$57,800 - $72,250
First Level Associate Director:
$63,800 - $79,750
Second Level Associate Director:
$70,550 - $88,150
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and, for the Assistant Director position, a minimum of - 2 years of experience in university fundraising settings or comparable settings that have afforded substantive responsibility with broad-based annual giving programs that work directly with donors and volunteer management.
Proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of at least $1,000 and ability to articulate the case for annual support.
The first level Associate Director position requires 2-3 years of professional experience in university fundraising settings or comparable settings.The second level Associate Director position requires a minimum of 3-4 years professional level fundraising experience with a proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of $10,000 or more with a focus on closing gifts of $10,000 to $25,000 with proven leadership and organizational skills.
This position requires superior communication skills—both in writing and orally, and the ability to communicate effectively to such diverse audiences as faculty, University as well as Advancement staff, and current and prospective donors.
Must also be highly competent in MS Excel, knowledgeable in MS Word, and, Google Docs, and comfortable with CRM software applications as well as various ways to enhance BC messaging via social media.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required, and some travel related to recruitment and program management.Successful candidates will be goal-oriented team players who have a strong understanding of annual giving strategies. They are flexible and adaptable to new programs in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Strong organizational and communication skills required and strong commitment to customer service. High attention to detail and follow up.
