- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for assigned properties, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and cash flow projections for review by management and stakeholders.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, escrow funds, and security deposits.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process by providing historical data, analyzing trends, and identifying opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants to facilitate year-end audits and tax filings.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and accounting standards relevant to property management and real estate investment.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
- Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements to streamline accounting workflows and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance, with a demonstrated progression of increasing responsibility.
- Proficiency in real estate accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Yardi or Oracle is a plus.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and familiarity with real estate industry standards.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
