Description
The staff accountant position is responsible for the preparation of GAAP accounting for all tax areas.This includes assisting in the preparation of income taxes returns and workpapers, preparation of real and personal property tax accrual workpapers as well as other tax compliance.
The position will include cross-training for multiple areas within the tax function.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in the quarterly provision and prepare supporting workpapers (state and federal).
Assist in the calculation of quarterly income tax estimated payments (state and federal).
Prepare local tax returns.
Prepare, review and analyze activity in all tax accounts in the general ledger.
Prepare workpapers used to support Federal, state and local tax returns.
Perform research across a variety of tax disciplines.
Prepare and analyze data requested by internal and external auditors.
Perform state tax credit research.
Prepare oil, battery and sales/use tax returns.
Prepare real and personal property tax accrual workpapers.
Prepare unclaimed property.
Other duties and functions as required by the Director of Tax, the VP of Finance and the CFO
SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
Required:
Four-year accounting degree or progressing towards an accounting degree.
Excellent Excel skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple deadline-driven projects.
Desired:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Prior income tax, sales tax, real and personal property tax experience.
