    The General Staff Accountant is involved in multiple aspects of the treasury department, including but not limited to, cash management, debt accounting, journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, vendor maintenance, management of purchase card program and compliance reporting.

    They will develop and streamline procedures, as necessary. Additionally, they may provide audit support, research issues, and provide ad hoc reports and analysis as required.


    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Maintaining compliance with filing tax returns (including sales tax, franchise, superfund, tonnage, unclaimed property) and preparing supporting documentation. This includes communicating with Federal, State, and Local agencies to ensure registrations and filing compliance are accurate.
    • Prepare journal entries, as needed.
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts, as needed.
    • Complete government census and survey forms, state registrations, and annual reports.
    • Prepare and update vendor maintenance forms and requests.
    • Assist in the management of the purchase card program and maintaining records for compliance.
    • Research topics, as needed.
    • Assist in gathering documentation to support audits as necessary.
    • Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
    • Assist with daily cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, special projects etc., as requested. Timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks and projects.
    • Maintenance and monitoring of assigned internal controls.
    • Positive feedback from peers and upper management regarding services provided.
    • Responsive to others in the organization and to the auditors as questions or requests arise.
    • Good communications and working relationships with business units.
    • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other 4-year degree with equivalent accounting experience
    • A minimum of 2 years of combined experience in accounting
    • An understanding of general ledger reconciliations.
    • Ability to research issues and substantiate conclusions with written documentation.
    • Advanced computer technical skills including but not limited to MS Excel and MS Word.
    • Must be fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated analytical, organizational and project management skills.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment.
    • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
