    POSITION SUMMARY:


    Performs general accounting functions in the Business Office including, but not limited to, general journal entries, account reconciliations, and payroll processing.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, and accounting; responsible for departmental strategic planning including Long Range Planning Notebook.
    • Assist CFO, Controller, and Assistant Controller as needed.
    • Ensure appropriate internal controls are developed and maintained.
    • Performs bank reconciliations.
    • Reconciles general ledger accounts and informs Controller and/or Assistant Controller of irregularities in reconciliations.
    • Assists with month end and year end close processes.
    • Reviews trial balances to determine accuracy of all accounts monthly.
    • Assists in preparation of materials for both the independent audit and external financial reporting.
    • Processes general journal entries.
    • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers including reconciliations.
    • Learn Jenzabar Info-maker reports.
    • Responsible for mapping all aspects of accounting within Jenzabar to ensure the functions within the Business Office flow correctly and troubleshoots Jenzabar system errors with assistance of IT.
    • Maintains system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
    • Compiles and reviews report for financial statements, endowment, and reserve accounts with management personnel, as needed.
    • Leads accounts payable team.
    • Assists in updating all departmental process documentation including policy and procedures manuals.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships with key personnel on campus.
    • Processes void checks and ACH returns in Jenzabar.
    • Creates manual entries for ACH transactions charged against bank accounts.
    • Assists Human Resources with payroll functions, including, but not limited to, semi-monthly reconciliation, data entry/verification of non-exempt payroll hours, submission of completed payroll, and assist with verification of W2 information in December.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships with key personnel on campus.
    • Other responsibilities as required.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required; One to two years related experience and/or training in all aspects of accounting, with an emphasis in general ledger; detail oriented with high accuracy; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

    A combination of educational credentials and experience is strongly preferred.


    COMPUTER SKILLS:


    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Not-for-Profit accounting software; Excel and some system integration experience preferred but not required.
