    Overview:

    Future Chefs ) prepares Boston high school students to leave high school ready for quality employment and post-secondary education. With a focus on positive youth development, Future Chefs provides culinary training and authentic work-based learning to prepare teens with the hard skills they will need to succeed in the culinary industry and most importantly the job readiness skills to succeed in any field.

    Future Chefs model is based on the belief that every student is unique and flourishes in respectful, safe, stimulating settings that provide opportunities for growth, and relationships with caring, supportive adults who honor students lived experiences. Future Chefs occupies 5770 square feet of meeting, kitchen and office space on the first floor of The Clarion in Roxbury and is programming our space to build community-based collaborations that directly and indirectly support our mission. Future Chefs is a fiscally sponsored organization of TSNE ).

    Responsibilities:

    The Development and Finance Coordinator plays an integral support role on the Development and Finance teams. With appropriate guidance, the coordinator supports the work of these teams by tracking fundraising actions and activities in the donor database, preparing for team meetings, and helping with grant applications and reporting. This person will also be responsible for gift entry, acknowledgement letters, giving reports, pledge reminders, event support and other daily development tasks.

    We are looking for someone to complete tasks independently with proper training, be interested in learning development strategy, and begin to contribute ideas to the team. In addition, the ideal candidate will thrive working collaboratively as part of a team within a small organization. This position is a great opportunity to receive hands-on experience with fundraising operations in a social justice nonprofit. This position requires working in the office on most days with the option for some remote work.

    Essential Functions

    • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of database (Salesforce) by ensuring that all information is kept current and up to date including individual donations, grants, in-kind donations, donor and grantee information. Troubleshoots database issues, and participates in ongoing professional development in Salesforce use
    • Coordinates and administers operations of all donor/grantor communications and appeals including hardcopy and digital mailings, and thank you letters
    • Assists with grant-writing, submission, and reporting, research on potential grantors, and keeps a calendar of grants deadlines
    • Edits and proofreads all types of development, financial, and communications materials
    • Anticipates and independently manages logistics, agendas and other materials for meetings, events, appointments and presentations; troubleshoots issues as needed; takes notes and organizes follow-up actions
    • Participates in portfolio review meetings and assists with donor engagement and stewardship actions
    • Supports accurate financial management by preparing credit card use reports, and consulting deposit reports
    • Supports the budgeting process by tracking certain categories of expenses
    • Take on other team or office-wide duties as needed.
    Qualifications:

    We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

    • 1-2 years of experience in development, customer service or administrative support (required).
    • Experience in Salesforce or other donor databases preferred.
    • Experience in Excel and Word, or Google Sheets and Google Docs.
    • Experience with email platforms preferred (Mailchimp, Constant Contact etc.).
    • Ability to work flexible work hours including occasional evenings, holidays and weekends.
    • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills as needed for meeting deadlines.
    • Skilled in written communication, and able to write with clarity and persuasiveness.
    • Excellent attention to detail in order to maintain integrity of information, track deadlines, and proofread.
    • Professional demeanor whether speaking to others in person, over the phone, or in written communication.
    • Adaptability and flexibility in times of shifting priorities
    • Works well alone as well as under direct supervision.
    • Must pass CORI background check

    Physical Demands/Work Environment

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
    • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends
    • Access to reliable transportation

    Location: Onsite Boston, MA

    Schedule: Regular Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

    Compensation and Benefits

    Location: Work will be primarily performed onsite in Boston, MA, with the option for some remote work.

    Compensation: The salary range for this position is $48,000 - $53,000/yr. and is commensurate with experience.

    Benefits: This position is eligible for a full benefits package including:

    • Generous Paid-Time-Off (PTO): twelve paid holidays, three weeks of vacation, one week of personal holiday, and ability to accrue up to 487.5 hours of health leave time for benefited staff.
