- Manage assigned budgets and contracts, including contract development and negotiation, staffing allocations, invoicing, budget development and revision, no cost extensions, recordkeeping (e.g., institutional file), monthly reconciliation, and financial reporting (both external and internal). Provides technical assistance to others on strategy.
- Manage research-related purchasing, reporting and documentation activities (e.g., participant incentives). Research and purchases supplies, software, and other necessary items. Submits check requests and purchase orders.
- Develop effective marketing materials for HEAR and ETA's work and services. This may include project/strategy descriptions, testimonials, website/newsletter/Board updates, infographics, videos, social media, written reports, and presentations.
- Support HEAR and ETA Strategy Directors in the development and execution of short-term and long-term business strategy and plans; at least semiannually, ensuring work plans are updated.
- Substantially contribute to HEAR and ETA's business development. Manages and follows up on business leads when directed.
- Support human resource management (e.g., job descriptions, requisitions, hiring; etc.).
- Serves as a central point for purchasing for HEAR and ETA team.
- Point person for administrative support, general questions, and troubleshooting. Acts as a liaison to Sinai Chicago departments (e.g., Human Resources, Legal, Accounting, Information Services).
- Ensures timely and adequate communication to HEAR and ETA staff on important matters. Models SUHI's mission, vision, and values, and maintains a high-level of discretion/confidentiality.
- Supports employee engagement and retention through actively promoting a positive culture that encourages high performance and morale, along with a learning mindset. Promotes professional development opportunities to encourage staff growth.
- Works with the director of grants and operations to set any guidelines and procedures that affect the HEAR and ETA strategy and follow through with implementation
- Bachelor's degree in business, Public Administration or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

- Experience with budget management, budget forecasting, and staffing across multiple projects.
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks.
- Strong experience with pre- and post-award management for government and foundation grants
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to delegate, resolve conflict and provide clear direction.
- Expert in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat software, and the ability to pick-up additional computer skills as needed.
- Experience Preferred in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems.

Business & Operations Manager Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) was founded in 2000 to generate creative approaches to improve the health of Chicago's urban communities.
Led by a team of dedicated social epidemiologists, community health workers, evaluators, and public health professionals, SUHI provides evidence-based examination of community health status, the effectiveness of public health interventions, and healthcare delivery methods.
A major component of SUHI's work involves social issues, such as racism and poverty, and their impact on health.For more information, visit Reporting to the assigned Director(s), the Business & Operations Manager provides administrative management and leadership support for one or more strategy areas.
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for day-to-day operations and business activities and coordinates with Sinai Urban Health Institute's (SUHI) operations team and other Sinai Chicago departments and entities as needed.
The Business & Operations Manager supports grant post-award monitoring, including, but not limited to, budget management, contract writing and execution, reporting activities, and recordkeeping.
This position also contributes to strategic planning and decision-making, general business development and relationship management, human resource management, purchasing, protocol/guideline development, training and logistical support, quality assurance, and marketing efforts.
