    Job Description

    The Associate Director (AD), Medical Affairs in conjunction with the National Director will led a diverse team of highly trained, field-based, Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSLs) in the United States. The primary responsibility of this position is to guide MSLs in cultivating current and future thought leaders at the local, regional, and national levels for all Hematology therapeutic areas

    They will also have accountability for training the US Hematology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team.

    Key Responsibilities/Scope of the Job

    • In this vital role you will report to the National Director, Field Medical Affairs of Hematology
    • The Primary responsibility of the AD, Field Medical Affairs is the management, performance, and coaching of MSL direct reports and ensuring compliant execution of field medical plans, strategy and activities within US Medical Affairs aligned with Sobi's Goals and Objectives.
    • Lead and coordinate MSL team meetings to support team building, best practice sharing, development, retaining top talent, and execution of field medical objectives.
    • Support cross-functional collaboration with key internal collaborators in Medical, Field Sales, Value and Access, and Marketing teams to facilitate unified customer facing engagement strategies and champion the value of the MSL team.
    • In collaboration with the National Director, Field Medical Affairs, identify, interview, hire and onboard new MSLs to create a diverse and inclusive team.
    • Assist medical affairs leadership in development of field medical strategy, tactical goals and objectives.
    • Support planning and field medical execution of local, regional, and national congresses
    • As directed, ensure the new-hire scientific training and certification program remains up-to-date, effective, and organized
    • Support National Director for the hiring, retention, and professional development of MSLs. This includes regular, ongoing coaching, feedback, and mentoring, performance management, and providing professional growth and development opportunities
    • Share and promote best practices and provide feedback for MSL excellence around insight gathering and documentation, scientific exchange, health-care decision maker education, and research/clinical trial support
    • Foster trusted, collaborative relationships with internal colleagues (Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs colleagues, Marketing, Patient Advocacy, Market Access, etc.) to develop, deliver, and participate in Medical and/or cross-functional initiatives, as appropriate
    Qualifications

    Position Qualifications

    • Advanced scientific or clinical degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) strongly preferred
    • Doctorate degree and 4 years in Sr. MSL/Executive MSL Role
    • Experience in a medically related field can include post-doctoral training (i.e., residencies and/or fellowships)
    • Therapeutic area expertise in Benign/Malignant Hematology
    • Managed market/payer/IDN engagement experience
    • Possess a deep understanding of the regional therapeutic landscape and key healthcare decision-makers
    • Previous management experience preferred
    • Excellent communication, presentation, operations, and time management skills required; must be adaptable and able to work well within a team and relate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
    • High level of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and business acumen
    • Able to inspire a team to excel by fostering a climate of positive energy, collaboration and personal accountability
    • Demonstrated leadership in ambiguous situations and across organizational matrices
    • Current working knowledge of US legal, regulatory, and compliance regulations and guidelines
    • Reputation for effective communications, negotiation and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders

    • Prior Hematology experience/KOL relationships; experience in rare disease
    • Travel up to 50-70% will be required.
