- Responsible for performing various month end journal entries and preparing closing reports accurately within the month end schedule.
- Accountable and responsible for accrual, reconciliation, and analysis of many general ledger accounts.
- Preparation and maintenance of selected areas in the budget and forecast.
- Prepare and coordinate various financial projects in the general accounting, cost accounting areas.
- Report significant variances on a weekly basis by investigating potential problems and devising solutions with cross functional department teams.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of projects and departmental goals and objectives.
- Treat all information in a confidential and professional manner.
- Set standard costs, value inventory and review standard costs on a regular basis by establishing and reviewing material costs, calculating labor and overhead rates, and reviewing BOMs and routings for accuracy.
- Perform monthly inventory revaluation.
- Assist in the PCP process by rolling, copying, and updating costs as needed along with completing analysis of impact based upon item BOM/Routing changes per team requirements.
- Own the financial statement closing processes, including analyzing and journaling inventory, analyzing and journaling COGS, and analyzing and reporting all material variances. This ownership includes ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of the process.
- Budget materials, labor and overhead (standard materials and the material variance accounts) for the annual budget.
- Provide visibility of financial position to the Supply Chain Team. Reach focus and alignment with business partners to improve financial performance.
- Support new product development by providing cost estimates and business case analysis.
- Responsible for analysis and research of weekly variable scrap, monthly consolidated inventory, and monthly purchase price variance, obsolescence, and supplier receivables/credits for defective product.
- Perform daily updates of new items costs, resolving of zero cost inventories and checking for duplicate costs in Oracle.
- Supporting manufacturing and distribution operations with financial reporting and analysis.
- Cycle counting reporting and holding meetings to facilitate communication to maintain inventory accuracy and resolve issues.
- Reporting and analysis of labor efficiency variances.
- Support inventory counting to ensure inventory accuracy before the final year-end audit.
- Work with Domestic and Asia teams to establish correct material costs, along with monitoring and forecasting purchase price variances. Process involves purchase cost and adders.
- Bachelor's degree in Financial Accounting or related field. MBA, CPA, CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum one year cost accounting experience, including project management experience. Must have a firm grasp on conceptual and systematic issues.
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Possesses specific knowledge in areas of specialty to support departmental objectives.
- Computer skills and experience with database programs such as Oracle, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
- Has applicable latitude for independent action or decisions. Must demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and the willingness to tactfully confront others on pertinent issues.
