- Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. - Identify improvement opportunities for reducing high-hazard injuries through process and equipment innovation. In coordination with Supply Chain and Research and Development (R&D), evaluate new technology or products for use in Operations in the company.
- Assist in the implementation of a Safety Equipment Review process.
- Identify, specify, and support the procurement of safety-related equipment and services as directed. Assist in the management of relevant purchase agreements and invoicing and, prequalify/oversee contractors (as necessary) in accordance with company requirements.
- Interact with internal customers of all company levels on a proactive basis. Interface effectively with regulatory agency representatives, customers, and other external parties as required and/or directed.
- Prepare reports and supporting materials to communicate incident analyses, compliance trends, performance information, regulatory issues, and other subject matter area-specific discussion documents.
- Prepare and present topic-appropriate materials to communicate safety-related information and requirements among mixed audiences that may contain field employees as well as all management levels, such as the EH&S Committee, Information Exchange and Safety Administrator meetings.
- Review corporate EH&S procedures and instructions on a prescribed schedule.
- Demonstrate ongoing development in knowledge of safety, health, and associated operating principles, as well as the supporting sciences, technical bases, and regulatory subject matter areas.
- Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with company policy and governmental regulations.
- As directed, provide immediate response to incidents on a 24x7 basis and in accordance with a duty schedule; conduct/support lessons learned development.

- Administer and coordinate other health and safety-related programs and initiatives, and other related tasks and assignments, as directed.

- Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years relevant work experience or
- Associate's Degree and four (4) years relevant work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years relevant work experience Operating or related experience.
- Bachelor's Degree Technical discipline (i.e. engineering, industrial hygiene, safety or a related field)
- Associate's Degree Technical discipline
- Functional expertise in the technical principles of safety-related procedures, instructions and equipment. Required
- Understanding of root cause analysis techniques and data analysis principles. Required
- Ability to effectively interact with various levels of personnel is required. Required
- Operational familiarity with the practices and requirements of Con Edison's service commodities is preferred. Preferred
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations. Preferred
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

- Ability to respond to system emergencies
- Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs

- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, and in accordance with off-hours work schedules as needed to support customer needs and specific projects.
- Must be physically able to wear and work in personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, various respirators and chemical resistant outergarments.
- Must be able to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds, climb ladders/stairs, and perform work at heights.
- Must be able to travel locally and out-of-town on business related initiatives as required.
- Maintain availability to support activities on a 24x7 basis, and in accordance with an established duty schedule.
