What you'll be doing (duties of this position):

Craft and enforce IT security protocols, methodologies, and mechanisms to protect observational data systems and infrastructure.
Regularly execute risk assessments and vulnerability scans to detect and rectify security weaknesses and ensure compliance alignment.
Monitor and scrutinize security alerts and incidents, promptly addressing security breaches or unauthorized access endeavors.
Guide incident response endeavors, encompassing forensic examination, containment, and resolution of security incidents.

Collaborate with IT and operational units to devise and implement security strategies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies.

Offer counsel and assistance to IT professionals and stakeholders regarding IT security best practices and compliance mandates.
Keep abreast of emerging IT security threats and trends, advocating proactive measures to bolster security preparedness.
Assume a leading role in conducting intricate root cause analyses to pinpoint and resolve challenging security issues.

What you'll need to be considered (requirements):
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.advanced degrees are preferable. Substantial experience in IT security, with a focus on devising, executing, and overseeing security controls and solutions.
Proficiency in IT security frameworks, including NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and CIS Controls.
Familiarity with an array of security tools and technologies, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and encryption.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving acumen, capable of assessing complex security dilemmas and proposing effective resolutions.
Robust communication aptitude, adept at elucidating technical concepts to non-technical.
