The Street Transportation Department is recruiting a Street Maintenance Supervisor in the Street Maintenance Division.

The primary job duties are to serve as a trainer for the apprentices hired into the Street Maintenance Worker (SMW) Apprenticeship Program, and new employees hired into Street Maintenance Division.

This position will work directly with an Administrative Assistant II, Street Transportation Department leadership, employee union representatives, and the Human Resources section to assess, develop, create, implement, and promote the Street Maintenance Worker Apprenticeship Program.

The Street Maintenance Supervisor will also oversee new employee onboarding and training for the division.

This position will provide instructional support for the city's apprenticeship requirements through instruction, instructional design, and facilitation of related training instruction, as well as develop and implement curriculum to facilitate strategic training for street maintenance positions based on the organization's goals.


Duties include:

  • Complete assigned special projects.
  • Develop training manuals that target tangible results.
  • Interact with city council representatives regarding citizen complaints.
  • Coordinate complex maintenance projects with other City departments.
  • Oversee a $4.1 million+ budget, material, and equipment procurement.
  • Maintain and manage classroom environment, equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Investigate accidents involving assigned vehicles to determine liability and cost.
  • Direct contact with the public and requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Manage direct reports and supervisory responsibilities including performance reviews, discipline, etc.
  • Assist in community outreach events, recruitment, and administration of the apprenticeship program.
  • Supervise street sweeping, preventive maintenance, general maintenance, and administration.
  • Maintain accurate apprentice progress records, update in a timely manner, assess and provide feedback on apprentice learning.
  • Review documents, inventory records, and other assignments completed by subordinates for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop, facilitate, and supervise training programs for employees based on the needs of the business.
  • Identify and assess the training needs of the organization through job analysis, career paths and consultation with leadership.
  • Demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding of all current computer technologies employed by the Street Maintenance Division.
  • Record apprentice program hours and recommend rotations in asphalt, concrete, and drainage to ensure comprehensive on the job training.
  • Arrange classes for apprentices including coordination of scheduling for (CLP) Commercial Learner's permit and (CDL) Commercial Driver License training to meet the requirements and hours needed to successfully complete the apprenticeship program.

  • Create and deliver training sessions complete with materials, instructions, checklists, and learning resources such as online modules, assessments, manuals, job aids, slide decks, and videos.

SALARY:


Pay Range:
$66,186 to $102,669 annually.

Hiring Range:
$66,186 to $88,691 annually.
