ABOUT THIS POSITION:


The Law Department is comprised of the City Attorney's Office, which handles representing the City in civil matters, and the City Prosecutor's Office, which handles the prosecution of misdemeanor crimes committed in Phoenix.

Currently, the Prosecutor's Office is seeking an Administrative Aide to provide administrative support in the Diversion Unit of the Appeals and Community Prosecution Bureau.


The Diversion Unit oversees the diversion programs offered to eligible defendants as an alternative to criminal convictions and their consequences.

The goal of Diversion is educating, rehabilitating, and preventing the defendant from reoffending, as well as giving the defendant the opportunity to avoid a criminal conviction.

The Diversion Unit administers seven programs provided by contract with community providers.


The essential duties include:

  • Conducting daily reporting and administrative duties for assigned Diversion programs.
  • Compiling data and preparing monthly, annual, and special reports through PROSECUTORbyKarpel (PbK).
  • Processing restitution requests and payments for diversion programs into SAP.
  • Preparing and processing motions.
  • Assisting with contract monitoring by observing classes and auditing files.
  • Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets for various projects.
  • Answering and responding to Diversion program related questions and problems.
  • Preparing correspondence.
  • Researching cases for recidivism studies.
  • Serving as backup and support to Diversion team members.

SALARY:


Pay Range:
$19.54 to $35.08 per hour.

Hiring Range:
$19.54 to $28.86 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Four years of experience performing clerical duties.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Degree in a criminal justice program or related field preferred.
  • Experience with:
  • Legal terminology and the criminal justice process.
  • Program procedures and/or program processing.
  • Data entry and record keeping.
  • Contract monitoring and compliance.
  • Compiling, analyzing data, and preparing reports.
  • SAP invoicing and Payment Control Documents.
