    Brand Segments:

    one will lead commercial strategy for our Core Brands' Segment, while the other will lead commercial strategy for our Extended Stay Segment.

    The Core Brands' Segment and Extended Stay Segment are two of our segments that support brand operations within Choice.

    As a key member of the segment, you will develop the strategic commercial vision and drive change through the Choice Centers of Excellence (COEs) to strengthen the franchisee value proposition for our portfolio.

    Your Responsibilities

    Leads the collaborative process to develop the immediate, intermediate, and long-term strategic segment commercial plans and supporting programs/initiatives with Core Brands' dedicated resources in centers of excellence.

    Monitors the activation and performance of those programs/initiatives, to support the segment's performance objectives.

    Identifies gaps in overall segment performance in key commercial segments and partnering with the COEs to determine plans to address concerns.

    Balances needs of franchisees and the Choice business to prioritize initiatives.
    Advocates for, and clearly speaks to the segment needs across the Choice enterprise.
    Partners with Commercial and Technology teams to manage commercial technology roadmap to support Core Brands' business.
    Oversees business case creation and leverages subject matter expertise to outline technology needs.
    Analytics

    Leads key segment commercial goals, and the communication of such to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned to the key needs.

    Partners with dedicated resources in Advanced Analytics team to measure overall performance trends and conduct additional analysis, especially to determine ROI on key commercial initiatives.

    Leadership & Budget Accountability

    Leads the relationship with commercial related committees/subcommittees within the Core segment / brand owner association structures, including CHOC, Country FAC, and ELFA/ROA.

    Leads and effectively communicates corporate priorities, strategic change initiatives and organizational impacts.
    Develops and maintains departmental budgets as directed and within company policy.
    Develops and implements department operational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience required.

    Minimum 10 years' progressive experience in hospitality management or related business field including corporate strategy, commercial sales, revenue management, ecommerce, etc.

    Current or past direct experience with extended stay and/or midscale brands strongly preferred.
    Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience, including setting strategic direction and influencing across a matrixed organization.
    Strong track record of success in driving execution and delivering business results.
    Motivated self-starter that is highly results oriented.

    Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to develop relationships with associates at all levels of the organization and drives results in a team-oriented environment.

    Excellent business-savvy with a consultative approach and holistic business view; ability to influence and collaborate with leaders across organizational lines.

    Excellent ability to manage ambiguity combined with an ability to leverage data and create a foundation of data-supported decision making.

    Excellent analytical and forecasting skills; previous experience with successful budget management.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all stakeholder groups including small and large group settings, both internal and external.

    Can build rapport with franchisees and stay "on message" with media.

    Flexibility in creating and making changes or re-directing initiatives to continuously improve the strategy and organization, showing comfort with change management, and working in a matrix-based organization.

    Advanced use of Microsoft suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    Your Team
    This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Vice President of Brand Management Strategy. You will collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.
    Your Work Location

    As our Commercial Strategy Director, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD.

    Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we're located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

    Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtual from your home office the remaining days.
