- Establish, develop, and maintain business relationships with current and potential customers in the assigned territory to drive new business for Sysco Specialty Meat Group's (SSMG) products and services.
- Conduct in-person visits and presentations to both existing and potential customers.
- Take customer orders while keeping the sales and GP/Stop maximization goals in mind.
- Participate in the review and processing of orders for customers through communication with inside sales partners.
- Address customer problems and needs in a timely manner.
- Analyze daily out-of-stocks, shortages, transportation issues, and implement solutions promptly.
- Review and react to daily/weekly sales and margin reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Stay informed about product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, trends, and other distributors/sales organizations in the market.
- Take part in Sysco Specialty Meat Group (SSMG) training and customer events, as well as Sales meetings led by Sysco Sales leaders.
- Establish relationships with accounts payable (A/P) contacts at each account and facilitate communication between them and SSMG account receivable manager/representative.
- Implement strategies to manage days sales outstanding (DSOs) effectively.
- Update bid files, customer profiles, and call sheets to ensure accurate pricing and item information, reducing the need for credits and returns.
- High School diploma
- Preferred: 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science, or related fields
- 2 years of prior experience in food service and/or sales, strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of meat and seafood categories or a background in restaurants/culinary arts with the ability to quickly acquire and apply new knowledge.
- Demonstrated consultative sales skills.
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent customer relations skills and a sense of urgency in addressing customer needs.
