- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies
- Recent administrative oversight in an inpatient environment; for example previous experience as an Assistant Unit Director, Charge Nurse or other similar role
- Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit
- In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations and internal policies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner. Prepares and presents a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals
- Strong knowledge of hospital wide systems and change implementation; Experience with Intradisciplinary collaboration
- Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.
- Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance. Provides input to decision-makers on human resources matters.
- Knowledge of Lean principles and change management
- Clinical Nurse III competency level
- Master's Degree preferred
- ACLS
- Certification in a specialty through the ANCC or ACCN
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California

To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: Department Description The 66-bed Adult Hematology / Oncology / Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit is a fast-paced, highly specialized unit located on the eleventh and twelfth floors of Long Hospital. Staff provide exceptional patient-centered care to acutely and chronically ill adults with complex hematological and oncological diagnoses. Nurses are highly trained to provide multiple treatment modalities, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, stem cell/bone marrow transplants, and cellular immunotherapy. The staff excels in symptom management and provides compassionate care to patients throughout the various stages of their treatment and recovery. Nurses are also trained to support Phase I-III clinical research activities on the unit to further develop cutting-edge treatment and care. Professional development of the staff is supported through participation in classes, seminars, and conferences as well as unit councils, quality improvement projects and community activities.
