Description
The Unit Director supervises two critical care areas; the 8ICU Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit, which is 8 beds, and 11NICU Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit which is 16 beds with an annual budget of $20 million and 105FTE.
UCSF is designated a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and the Unit Director would have direct and indirect responsibilities to ensure the high level of care and regulatory compliance to maintain this designation.
Designs and oversees nursing and administrative operations in large and / or multiple patient care areas. Accountable for the overall administrative planning and coordination of the staffing, fiscal and material resources. Assists with the development and implementation of multiple high-level quality and safety improvement initiatives and policies update.
Involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s).
Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes.
Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Please note:
The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point.
An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
