About Lynette Tia:

I'm a dedicated Regional Supervisor with a heartfelt commitment to serving low-income families and seniors. By day, I'm deeply engaged in this meaningful work, ensuring that our community's most vulnerable members have the support they deserve. As a part-time Counselor at DeAnza College, I thrive on connecting with students and guiding them toward their aspirations.

With a background in Psychology, I hold both a BS and MS in the field. My journey led me to a Doctor of Education degree in Higher Post-Secondary Education, where my passion for equality and fairness took center stage. My dissertation focused on the challenges faced by first-generation college students, reflecting my unwavering dedication to creating opportunities and leveling the playing field.

In everything I do, my driving force is the belief in providing equity where it's lacking. I'm excited to connect with like-minded individuals who share this vision and collaborate on initiatives that make a lasting, positive impact. Let's work together to create a more just and equitable world.

Experience

In my current roles as a counselor at De Anza College and Regional Supervisor at LifeSTEPS, I have had the privilege of guiding and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds, empowering them to navigate their academic journey and personal development. My hands-on experience in student support has equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that arise within the higher education landscape.

My year-long tenure as a Resident Director at McPherson College further enriched my skill set. I successfully managed residential life by overseeing resident assistants, coordinating events, and fostering an inclusive and supportive living environment. Additionally, I had the opportunity to teach an incoming freshmen class, where I imparted valuable life skills, study techniques, and strategies for adapting to the college environment.

Education

My educational background is in psychology, including a bachelor’s and master’s degree, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Post-Secondary Education, along with my extensive experience in counseling, education, and student support,
