Utility-Scale Solar Project Developer - New York, United States - Nexamp

    Default job background
    Description

Do you want to be a part of the clean energy movement? Are you passionate about improving our environment for this generation and those to follow? Are you ready to take on new challenges and collaborate with a future-focused team leading the way into new markets? Join Nexamp

This is where you can learn from industry leaders and become one yourself. It's fast-paced, mission-based work that challenges the status quo. Be on the team that's changing the world.

    What we're looking for:

Nexamp is growing their Utility Scale team, and seeking to hire an Utility-Scale Solar Project Developer to lead the development of utility scale solar projects across the Mid-West and NY markets. You will ideally have 3-5 years of utility scale solar project development or distributed generation development experience. You will lead the origination and development of large utility scale projects. You will also understand how clean energy policy creates market opportunity. We are supporting remote or hybrid work out of our hub offices in Chicago or New York. You will report directly to the Vice President, Utility Scale Greenfield Development.

    What you'll do:

    • Site origination, site control negotiation, project permitting, utility interconnection, and tax agreement negotiation.
    • Crafting a compelling value proposition that reflects avoided cost, load profile, applicable tariffs, and layered revenue streams.
    • Close coordination with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies.
    • Development of long-term relationships with site owners, energy users and other project stakeholders.
    • Effective communication with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives.
    • Active management of development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective projects.
    • Management of external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities.
    • Fostering support from state, county and local governments, community groups, and abutters.
    • Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
    • Development of sales presentations, proposals, and other materials as needed to support project development efforts.
    • Occasional travel is required; some evening and weekend work required.
    What you'll bring:
    • Three or more years of energy industry experience in a business development role, with at least one year in Utility Scale development.
    • Integration of PV and energy storage systems preferred.
    • Commercial real estate prospecting and business model understanding.
    • Effective team leader and collaborator.
    • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
    • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
    • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
    • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
    • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
If you don't meet 100% of the above qualifications, but see yourself contributing, please submit an application. We encourage people from minority or marginalized groups to apply.

At Nexamp, our mission is to build the future of energy so it is clean, simple, and accessible for all.
