Project Manager - San Francisco, United States - Orbital Sidekick

    Orbital Sidekick
Orbital Sidekick San Francisco, United States

    Default job background
    Description
    Space is in our DNA.

Orbital Sidekick (OSK) has a mission to leverage the untapped power of hyperspectral imagery (HSI) to address global environmental, health, and safety needs while helping companies reach their sustainability goals.

Orbital Sidekick is establishing a space-based infrastructure of HSI sensors and analytic capabilities to enable real-time monitoring, detection, and risk management.

Come join our team of smart-creative people as we create real, tangible value for our clients.

You'll take ownership of your role and position within this early stage company, and will experience exponential growth opportunities with the freedom to take on exciting new work.

Share in the success of the company as an equity holder. And most importantly – help us launch stuff into space and change the way we monitor our planet

As a Project Manager on OSK's Government Affairs team, you will report directly to the VP of Government Affairs and work closely with several other members of OSK leadership, owning the performance of existing programs and helping support initiatives critical to our customers' success.

On a daily basis, you'll work closely with the product team to inform software engineering, analytics, and payload efforts in support of OSK customer programs.

    What you'll do

You will own the management of tasks, activities, and delivery milestones for a portfolio of existing programs, including tracking scope, cost, and timeline.

This is a customer facing role, with high exposure to decision-makers across defense, intelligence, civilian, and state government agencies.
Regularly update Orbital Sidekick's leadership team on project portfolio status and potential risks to on-time peformance.
Work closely with the product team to break down customer requirements, prioritize development, and communicate the impact of delivery
    What you'll need to succeed

You have at least 1-3 years of demonstrated success in project management within industry, academia, or (ideally) government. We are looking for a generalist who excels at applying existing skills to new problems.
Familiarity with pipeline management tools (we use Aha but experience with that specific platform is not expected or required).
Exposure to documentation and knowledge sharing platforms like Confluence or SharePoint.
A sharp eye for detail and excellent time management skills.
Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles and navigate risk.
Excellent collaboration, communication (both verbal and written), and facilitation skills.
Self-motivated, proactive team player. You have a bias for action and work effectively in an ambiguous, dynamic environment.
    Driven, process-oriented person.

You're able to effectively balance competing priorities and make decisions that best support the customer, the team, and Orbital Sidekick.

You can identify and tactfully manage scope-creep.
Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
Qualities that will give you an advantage

Experience working directly with or from within government agencies.
Although not a requirement, you're a standout candidate if you have experience supporting technical GEOINT programs.
    $90,000 - $135,000 a year

Compensation is dependent on qualifications and primary work location, and is paired with a comprehensive benefits package.

Orbital Sidekick is committed to building a community where everyone belongs and we invite people from all backgrounds to apply.

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to providing employment opportunities regardless of race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, age, military or veteran status, or any other protected classification, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
