    Description


    A leading engineering firm based in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, CA is seeking a talented Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team.


    Position Overview:
    Looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to support the finance department.

    The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies.


    Responsibilities:
    Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
    Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    Assist in month-end and year-end close procedures, including preparation of journal entries and financial statements.
    Analyze financial data and trends to identify variances, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
    Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
    Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues and provide financial insights and support as needed.
    Support external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and assistance as required.
    Maintain and update accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience.
    Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting standards.
    Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
    Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Experience in the engineering or construction industry is a plus.
    CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred, but not required.
