    The University of Alaska Fairbanks is a national and international leader in studies of environmental change in Alaska and the Arctic.

    The Climate Scholars Program, within the Honors College at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, is seeking a highly skilled and energetic program coordinator.

    The person in this position will lead and coordinate a variety of activities in climate change research and education, working with students, scientists, administrators, and stakeholders in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

    To be successful in this role the applicant should have the following:

    Ability to understand and solve complex problems.

    Ability to conduct business in a professional and timely manner.

    Ability to respond to and prioritize workload, as well as create and follow timelines for the completion of activities.

    Proven ability to collaborate on projects. Enthusiastic and motivated to work as a team with people in a range of positions and with students.

    Ability to observe and assess situations, deal with stakeholders diplomatically.

    Flexibility to proactively take on additional responsibilities

    Knowledge of climate change science, impacts, and adaptation in Alaska and the Arctic.

    Knowledge of higher education and experiential learning.

    Familiar with and connected to climate change efforts at UAF and beyond.

    Comfortable with technology, including Google Suite, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Zoom, etc.

    Preferred:
    Knowledge of University, regulations, policies, and procedures.


    Minimum Qualifications:


    Undergraduate degree required (Master's degree preferred), and three years relevant experience at the postgraduate level in meteorology, political science, economics, ecology, education, communication or other field relevant to this position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Experience coordinating events and managing administrative logistics is required. Experience working in higher education preferred.


    Position Details:
    This is a full-time, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.

    UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage.

    New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
