- Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
- Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
- Assists Hematology/Oncology attendings on seeing consults/procedures on hospital floors when needed (including the NICU, PICU, and ED)
- Assist attendings with multidisciplinary rounds
- Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
- Interprets laboratory and test results.
- Provides education and continuity/quality of care guidance to rotating pediatric residents on floor
- Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions, and any referrals on patient charts.
- Informs patients of the necessary post-discharge care instructions.
- Provides teaching and emotional support to patients and families.
- Triages and refers patients for further care based on severity of illness and symptoms.
- Utilizes written guidelines/protocol for clinical decision making and management.
- Prepares timely, legible, and complete documentation of all patient care as provided by law, regulation, and established policy.
- Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to patient/family rights.
- Applies safety principles as identified by established policy.
- Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies/practices.
- Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in patient flow, acuity, and other operational demands while maintaining quality.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Florida, required.
- Current BLS certification, PALS certification required.
- Two to four years related experience or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
- Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline.

Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology APRN to support our brain tumor and sarcoma programs in the outpatient setting. Under indirect supervision and working interdependently with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, provides a broad range of nurse practitioner services following established policies and protocols. Performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation.
