Summary

The Bed Management Coordinator works with the Hospital Flow Coordinator, Nurse Managers, Associate Nurse Managers, and Directors to ensure that each nursing unit receives patients that are appropriate for that specific unit.

Manages Tracking Boards, PM Office, throughput of ICU, OR, Recovery, Resus, Procedural areas, ED, Med/Surg, direct admits, and internal transfers.

Facilitates patient flow through patient movement, environmental services support, bed ahead strategy, bed priority management, and positive relationships.

Responsibilities
Coordinate the assignment of patient care beds across the hospital. Documents bed placement activities in Tele tracking System in a timely and accurate manner.

Professional communication, acts as a liaison between and with physicians, patient/family, hospital staff and patient care areas, and with outside agencies in an effort to promote efficient patient flow.

Perform daily rounds on all inpatient and procedural areas. Evaluates all bed requests using approved criteria, for level of care orders and bed assignments.

Views hospital bed status at a glance, drilling down to the nursing unit level, thus ensuring patients are admitted to the correct department from the outset, improving patient care with faster and safer outcomes.

Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
