Accounting Manager, Corporate Accounting

About the Role:
We're searching for an Accounting Manager to join Remitly's Global Corporate Accounting team. The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the financial operations of the Accounting Department.

This individual will support a team of accounting personnel, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with regulations, and contribute to strategic financial decisions.

What You'll Do

Analyze current procedures. Recommend, develop, and drive process improvements to achieve efficiency and scalability within the Accounting organization.
Engage & collaborate with a team of accounting staff while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
Support in the month-end close process of reviewing journal entries, analysis of trends and variances to expected outcomes, and analysis of financial system outputs.
Collaborating with other departments with goal setting, strategy creation, and decision making
Collaborate regularly with business partners to ensure accurate accounting for monthly accruals and new business initiatives.
Build efficient and reliable processes and policies across partner teams to systematically eliminate dependencies and defects.
Support external audit processes and escalate any inefficiencies to management.
Conduct accounting research and draft documentation working closely with internal stakeholders to determine the impact of new accounting standards and the accounting implications of changes in the business.
Ensure internal controls, policies, and procedures are documented and followed appropriately with audit trails for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
Support ad hoc financial information request/audit request and analyses and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting and 5+ years of experience
CPA or public accounting experience preferred
Knowledge of US GAAP & Sarbanes-Oxley required
Strong technical accounting background
Experience with streamlining processes and/or design and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Experience working in NetSuite or similar ERP systems a plus
Experience analyzing and working with large data sets and familiarity with data management tools such as Excel and SQL
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven time management skills and experience with leading projects related to process improvements or new initiatives
