    $50,000 - $52,000Since its founding in 1972, Interfaith Works (IW) has provided extensive wraparound services to the most vulnerable residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. Our 15 interrelated and co-located programs prevent individuals from falling through the safety net, stabilize housing and financial circumstances, and empower individuals and families to lift themselves out of poverty and homelessness. Our team of 130 professionals administer programs that include emergency financial assistance, distribution of free food and clothing, vocational services, and a complete continuum of housing.

    Prevent, Stabilize, and Empower, we support 17,000 individuals annually.kPOSITION SUMMARYThe Interfaith Works Empowerment Center Day Program and Overflow Shelter (IWEC-IWOF), located on the second and third floors of Progress Place (a County-owned service center for people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity).

    The IWEC-IWOF acts an entry point to services and shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness.

    The Day Program offers basic needs (toiletries, showers, laundry) and case management services; and the Overflow Shelter is a year-round emergency shelter for both women and men that has the capacity to expand during extreme, hypothermia weather.

    Both are low barrier programs that adhere to Harm Reduction to engage adults experiencing homelessness. The Interfaith Works New Leaf Shelter (IWNL) is a low-barrier, mixed gender emergency shelter for adult individuals experiencing homelessness. The 30-bed program provides shelter, meals, and case management services.

    The goal of the program is to quickly move shelter clients to housing so that homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring.

    The Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position and will report to and be supervised and evaluated by the Program Director.

    The Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator is primarily responsible for recruiting, maintaining, and supporting coordination of volunteer groups to provide all meals, coordinate activities for clients, represent IW and the shelter to community groups and support the Development team.

    The IW New Leaf and IW Empowerment Center Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position that is responsible for the coordination of volunteers and community outreach efforts of all programs housed at the ENC and maintaining the ENC volunteer/tour calendar.

    This position reports directly to the Director of Essential Needs.

    kESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
    Solicits and retains volunteers through effective relationship management.
    Ensure that the overall volunteer experience is positive, and volunteers complete all necessary paperwork and waivers. Ensure all volunteer information is entered into the database and kept current.
    Manage volunteer activities at the ENC, including, orientation, record keeping, database management, thank you letters, and recognition of volunteers.
    Support the development of relationships with local congregations, businesses, universities, community partners and others.

    Identify needs and fulfill volunteer support for Student Service Learning and court ordered volunteers as well as individuals with disabilities.

    Support seasonal ENC needs such as the winter coat drive, and school supplies drive.
    Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the IW Development Department.
    Manage and maintain accurate records for ENC volunteers.
    Maintain Sign Up Genius for volunteers and special events.
    Provide reports in a timely manner.

    Perform other duties as assigned.kMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES)- 3 years of experience in volunteer programming or program management.

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
    Detail oriented, ability to multitask, and organizational skills.
    Ability to educate and motivate effective teams of diverse volunteers to serve IW clients.
    Excellent written and verbal skills, and confidence in public speaking.
    Computer literacy. Skilled use of MS Office Software Suite required. Knowledge of Volgistics preferred.
    Energetic, optimistic, and customer-centered personality.
    Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
