POSITION SUMMARY
The Interfaith Works Empowerment Center Day Program and Overflow Shelter (IWEC-IWOF), located on the second and third floors of Progress Place (a County-owned service center for people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity). The IWEC-IWOF acts an entry point to services and shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness. The Day Program offers basic needs (toiletries, showers, laundry) and case management services; and the Overflow Shelter is a year-round emergency shelter for both women and men that has the capacity to expand during extreme, hypothermia weather. Both are low barrier programs that adhere to Harm Reduction to engage adults experiencing homelessness.
The Interfaith Works New Leaf Shelter (IWNL) is a low-barrier, mixed gender emergency shelter for adult individuals experiencing homelessness. The 30-bed program provides shelter, meals, and case management services. The goal of the program is to quickly move shelter clients to housing so that homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring. The Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position and will report to and be supervised and evaluated by the Program Director. The Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator is primarily responsible for recruiting, maintaining, and supporting coordination of volunteer groups to provide all meals, coordinate activities for clients, represent IW and the shelter to community groups and support the Development team.
The IW New Leaf and IW Empowerment Center Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position that is responsible for the coordination of volunteers and community outreach efforts of all programs housed at the ENC and maintaining the ENC volunteer/tour calendar. This position reports directly to the Director of Essential Needs.
