Who we are:

Central Concrete has been in business for 28 years, our team of seasoned and experienced professionals has built some of the most recognized concrete structures in Eastern North Carolina.

Who we are looking for: Concrete Estimator

Location: Wilmington, NC

Skills Needed:

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project), ability to communicate clearly and timely with Team members and Customer.
A college degree is not required.
Capable of pricing turnkey concrete projects up to $15 million in value.
Knowledge of takeoff methods and experience using takeoff software (PlanSwift, etc.)
General construction experience and knowledge of methods and processes.
Out of town travel is not required for this position with the exception of scope review meetings with General Contractors who do not have a local office.
Visits to Central Concrete jobsites are not required but are welcomed and encouraged.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following, but are not limited to (other duties may be assigned):

1) Bid Pre-Planning/Setup:

Receive bid announcements (Invitation to Bid ITB) from Operations Manager or Customer.
Set deadline for bid review and manage time to meet end date.
Organization skills and timeliness for bids are a must.

2) Bid Information Communicate to Vendors/Subs:

Set up subcontractor/vendor bid list. Contact vendors/suppliers to make sure communication is clear concerning upcoming bid.

Send bid documents (drawings, specs, soils report, addenda, etc.) to subs via email.
Vendors may include Concrete, Rebar, Post-tension, Place & Finish subs, Crane suppliers, Stone, Formwork, among others.
Organize and keep track of all documents - i.e. - drawings, specifications, addenda, bid alternates, RFP proposal, etc throughout the bid process.

3) Bid Takeoff, Create Estimate:

Perform a complete quantity takeoff utilizing Planswift. Prior knowledge of Planswift is a plus, training may be provided.
Perform a takeoff of the formwork materials; input data into estimate.
Research and input local sales tax specific to the project location.
Knowledge of reviewing and adjusting estimates as needed.

4) Bid Review Internally with Preconstruction & Operations, Submit Bid to Customer:

Work with operations leaders to ensure they have reviewed the bid documents and logistic requirements and General Conditions.
Operations Manager will be expected to review all documents associated with the bid, highlight the items of importance and notify Operations Manager of key critical items.
Review the estimate, bid schedule, and sub/vendor quotes with Operations Manager in a timely manner before bid is due.
Review and discuss any possible clarifications that may be required with the Operations Manager, before bid submission.

5) Bid Follow Up:

Follow-up with customer is critical to our bid success.
Candidate must have initiative to follow up with bids and gain insight on the overall pricing of all concrete bidders.
