    Job DescriptionThe Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) has a 25-year track record of improving care for people with serious illness by accelerating growth in access to specialty palliative care, and by training clinicians from all specialties and disciplines in core palliative care skills.

    The Director of Clinical Education role is critical to CAPC's ability to fulfill our mission, and to the health of CAPC's membership model.

    Responsible for overseeing development and maintenance of CAPC's large portfolio of clinical education materials, the Director will ensure highest-quality content, user-friendly virtual education, and effective nationwide dissemination.

    Since launching in 2015, CAPC's online, self-study curriculum has been used by nearly 150,000 health professionals across the US to strengthen their skills providing person-centered care to patients with serious illness.

    In recent years, CAPC has expanded it portfolio to include online interactive clinical education games, clinical job aides, virtual workshops, and other teaching modalities.

    We aim to increase both the number of clinicians we train in core palliative care skills, and the depth of our engagement with these clinicians over time.

    This position reports directly to CAPC's Chief Executive Officer.

    ResponsibilitiesRoles and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with CAPC's content development council and Chief Executive Officer to continuously evolve CAPC's clinical education strategy; develop work plans and manage staff and financial resources that are aligned with CAPC's strategic prioritiesManage a team including instructional designers, a continuing education manager, and content development project manager(s) to develop new education resources and periodically update existing education resourcesSit on CAPC's leadership group, the Enterprise Team, to participate in organizational governance and decision-making around strategic priorities, resource allocation, and cultureIdentify, contract with, and oversee the work of subject matter experts who sit on CAPC clinical education development workgroups, ensuring interprofessional input on all CAPC education materialsOversee CAPC consultants and contractors who contribute to the development of education materials, including illustrators and graphic designersDevelop best practices for efficient content review, development, and storage, including the implementation of citation management and the creation of production checklistsReview all CAPC courses and learning activities prior to launch for narrative coherence, functionality and quality assurance, and compliance with CAPC style guidelines and messagingCommunicate challenges or unexpected developments in production process early, and work collaboratively with team members to problem-solveCollaborate with CAPC's Marketing Department to develop promotional materials and messaging around new CAPC content/products; identify opportunities to publish and/or present about CAPC clinical educationSupport the creation of grant proposals and grant reports related to CAPC clinical educationRepresent CAPC Clinical Education in relevant external relationships Maintain awareness of trends in online education and education technologies, to ensure that CAPC products are maximally effective and user-friendlyIdentify opportunities to accelerate usage of CAPC clinical education materials, including tools and technical assistance for clinical educators from CAPC member organizations, CAPC website functionality, targeted materials for specific clinician learner groups, and other utilization strategiesLiaise with CAPC colleagues who lead marketing and communications, website technology, data collection and analysis, and other key internal stakeholders as needed to ensure optimized promotion, utilization, and insights from CAPC clinical educationThis position is remote; some travel will be requiredQualificationsBachelors Degree required, Masters degree preferred.

    Previously held leadership position; demonstrated ability to design and implement strategic initiativesAt least five years of management experience in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects running in parallelExperience developing education curricula for adult learners; experience with online learning preferred but not requiredHealth care background strongly preferred; grants management experience strongly preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skills (note: upon being invited to interview for the position, CAPC will request a writing sample)Demonstrated ability to perform complex project managementCollaborative, team-oriented approach to achieving project goalsNon
