    OVERVIEW:

    The role of Youth Development Professional involves supporting the planning, organization, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of programs focusing on art, athletics, and academics for club members. Additionally, this position includes supervising activities and encouraging member engagement.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Implement, monitor, and assess programs to ensure member safety and program quality.
    • Create an environment that fosters Youth Development Outcomes achievement.
    • Acknowledge club members for their participation and success in programs.
    • Maintain attendance and participation records.
    • Suggest new program developments and improvements to existing programs.
    • Promote and boost program engagement.
    • Orient new members regarding programs, events, safety regulations, and club rules.
    • Offer guidance and role modeling to members.
    • Participate in training sessions to expand knowledge and skills, as well as attend program and staff meetings.
    • Ensure club orderliness and enforce discipline as per policy.
    • Supervise and train volunteers and program assistants.
    • Monitor supply needs and notify Supervisor when restocking is required.
    • Maintain neat program areas and ensure bulletin boards are updated.
    • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork promptly.
    • Recommend necessary facility or equipment repairs.
    • Engage in community outreach activities and events as needed.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure program quality, assisting where necessary.
    • Perform other assigned duties.

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
    • High School diploma or GED, with a preference for at least two years of college experience.
    • Minimum of two years of combined experience or formal training working with youth and understanding youth development.
    • Experience in teaching youth and creating engaging learning experiences.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Hold a valid driver's license and pass a driving record check.
    • Clear criminal background check.
    • Pass a TB test.
    • CPR and First Aid Certifications are advantageous.
    • Prior Boys & Girls Club experience is preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS:
    • Understanding of core youth development areas.
    • Proficiency in planning creative youth programs, project management, and achieving positive outcomes.
    • Effectively handle member interactions, including disciplinary matters.
    • Proven ability in building relationships, working with youth and parents, and organizing tasks efficiently.

    WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING:
    • Travel between different club and school locations is necessary. Must meet Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles' insurance standards.
    • Hours are based on school schedules, with evening hours required during the school year and varying hours during breaks; occasional weekend shifts may be needed.

    Shifts/Schedules:
    • 8 am-1 pm
    • 10 am-3 pm
    • 12 pm-5 pm
    • 10 am-5:30 pm
