    JOB OPPORTUNITY

    We're looking for collaborative and communicative mediators who can help ensure a positive and fair workplace environment As Employee & Labor Relations Analyst, you will have the opportunity to represent management during meet and confer processes, grievances, disciplinary actions, and other labor and employee relations activities.

    You will analyze a variety of situations to evaluate options, determine the best approach, make recommendations and implement policies.

    You will also advise staff on a range of labor and employee relations topics, such as policies, procedures, regulations, collective bargaining agreements, conflict resolution, and performance management.

    This position may be filled at Associate or Senior level. Senior Human Resources Analysts perform more complex work and may be assigned to supervise the work of others.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
    Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, human resources management, industrial relations, or a closely related field, and:

    • Associate level: Two (2) years of professional human resources experience in more than one HR functional area or program.
    • Senior level: Four (4) years of professional human resources experience in more than one HR functional area or program, which includes at least one (1) year of experience functioning in a lead capacity.
    Additional professional-level relevant work experience may be substituted for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.

    Other requirements include:


    Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities.

    When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.

    EXAM PROCESS
    The exam process will include, but may not be limited to:

    • Application review for minimum qualifications
    • Review of supplemental questionnaire

    Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification.

    The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate.

    Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.
