The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking Neurologists to join its Behavioral Neurology Division

As an institutional priority, the Icahn School of Medicine has a strategic initiative to strengthen our clinical and clinical research program in aging-related cognitive and behavioral health and neurodegeneration. We are seeking exceptional clinical/academic neurologists and/or psychiatrists, who are trained in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry, to join our division of Behavioral Neurology, under the medical directorship of Georges Naasan, MD, along with division chief Sam Gandy, MD, PhD, Mount Sinai Chair in Alzheimer's Research. Division faculty work under the Barbara and Maurice Deane Center for Wellness and Cognitive Health, an interdepartmental center that also houses geriatricians and psychiatrists, working alongside neurologists to provide care to people living with cognitive and behavioral symptoms and their loved ones (). The division of Behavioral Neurology is located within the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Health System, Department of Neurology, under the leadership of Barbara G. Vickrey, M.D., M.P.H., System Chair of Neurology.

The incumbent will join current staff that include Sam Gandy, MD, PhD, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry and Chief of Division; Georges Naasan, MD, Associate Professor of Neurology and Medical Director; Fanny Elahi, MD, DPhil, Assistant Professor of Neurology, Neuroscience and Pathology, Ana Pereira, MD; Assistant Professor of Neurology; Tianxu Xia, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry; Estevana Isaac, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology, Arnabh Basu, MD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Eileen Callahan, MD, Associate Professor of Geriatrics and Palliative Care and Associate Professor of Medicine, Emmanuel During, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology, and Joanne Festa, PhD, neuropsychologist and Assistant Professor of Neurology, among others. The clinical team also includes a full time nurse practitioner, Sarah Wilkins, two full time social workers, Faye Linker and Nicole Chis, as well as a full time RN, Rishikka White, and a full time mental health therapist, Teresa Santos. The recruited faculty will be expected to provide excellent clinical care for patients with cognitive and behavioral complaints as a member of the Deane Center. There is also an opportunity for the recruited faculty to continue engagement in clinical research. In addition, he/she will teach and supervise medical students, neurology and psychiatry residents, fellows, and colleagues. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with other Mount Sinai research units within the Friedman Brain Institute, as well as with the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, where subjects for clinical trials are referred.

The Friedman Brain Institute

The division of Behavioral Neurology is also a unit of the Friedman Brain Institute (FBI - directed by Eric J. Nestler, M.D., Ph.D., Professor), a large, multidisciplinary effort involving numerous basic science and clinical departments that incorporates all aspects of brain research, with strengths in cognitive function and neuropsychiatry. The FBI is involved in a wide range of cognitive research programs using emerging technologies to probe the underlying causes of cognitive disorders, and it is closely aligned with the Mount Sinai Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC; directed by Mary Sano, Ph.D., Professor), and the Ronald M. Loeb Center for Alzheimer's disease (directed by Alison M. Goate, D. Phil., Professor), all internationally renowned centers of excellence dedicated to research of cognitive disorders associated with aging including genetics, experimental therapeutics and neuroimaging.

Compensation range from 210K to 350K(not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
