    POSITION CONCEPT
    :

    Provide business planning support to successfully operate the utility in a changing environment. With direction from the Manager, develop annual and multi-year operations budgets and forecasts.

    This includes supporting the development of the annual operations budgets and business plan processes; communication to team members regarding financial matters, cost management and areas for improvement.

    Provide financial support and a business perspective to assist the overall operations of the company including all business segments, corporate departments, and senior management.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    :

    Budgeting and Forecasting
    Assists with the preparation of portions of the annual budget and monthly reforecasts, including revenues, O&M and/or capital.

    Support Manager and Accounting Department in development of overall financial statement budgets, including income statement, balance sheet and cash flows.

    Support Manager in production of multi-year forecasts and long-term planning efforts. Supports the development of the ten-year forecast.

    Cost Control
    Work closely with operations management on cost tracking and cost management efforts. Provide financial analysis support to all business units, corporate departments, and senior management. Create/maintain financial models and/or business intelligence tools using appropriate data gathering techniques to assist department managers with operational decisions.

    Variance Analysis and Reporting

    Support the preparation of monthly budget/forecast/actual variance analysis reports, month-end financial results package (including earnings reconciliation), along with other operational/efficiency reports.

    Analyze results and prepare events analysis summary and monthly variance explanations. Work closely with the business units' operations staff to ensure accuracy.
    Prepare charts, graphs or summaries as needed to support analysis and presentation of results and forecasts.

    Business Area Communications
    Support the Manager in communication to team members regarding financial matters, cost management and areas for improvement.

    Company O&M, Capital & other income statement & balance sheet components

    Assist the company in its accumulation and decision-making related to all O&M, Capital and other income statement and balance sheet components, such as Other Operating Revenue, Below-The-Line transactions, inventory levels, and the level of payables and accruals.


    EDUCATION
    Required :

    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related financial field from a regionally accredited college/university May consider an equivalent of four years related financial work experience in lieu of the degree in addition to the requirements below.


    EXPERIENCE
    :

    Analyst I
    Required :

    No financial work experience is required, but it is preferred.
    Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

    Preferred :

    Experience with software/systems such as SAP, PowerPlant and work management

    College degree may be considered in lieu of some of the comparable direct/related experience listed.

    Analyst II

    Required :

    Minimum of two years of accounting/financial experience.
    Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

    Preferred :


    SAME AS ABOVE
    College degree may be considered in lieu of some of the comparable direct/related experience listed.

    Senior:

    Required :

    Minimum of five years of accounting/financial experience.
    Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

    Preferred :


    SAME AS ABOVE

    ABILITIES:

    Analyst I
    Required :

    Knowledge related to cost control, financial and metric analysis, profitability, and process improvement.
    Analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
    Possess strong attention to detail.
    Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

    Analyst II - In addition to the above:

    Required :

    Strong knowledge and abilities related to cost control, financial and metric analysis, profitability, and process improvement.
    Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
    Effectively exercise judgement while working independently and effectively coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
    Ability to perform assigned duties independently.

    Preferred :

    General knowledge of utility operations, utility accounting and regulatory practices preferred.

    Senior - In addition to the above

    Required :


    Strong knowledge and abilities related to cost control, financial and metric analysis, profitability and process improvements and skill to translate into courses of action.

    Possess strong attention to detail.
    Effectively exercise judgement while working independently and effectively coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
    Ability to perform its assigned duties independently, often fulfilling responsibilities held by the Manager.
