    Position Summary Description

    The Planning Analyst II performs planning and related analysis of Seminole's long-range generating capacity needs, including the evaluation of generation alternatives. In addition, this role is responsible for the application of production costing and system optimization models in the performance of generation planning studies.

    Essential Functions

    • Performs studies in the areas of generation planning for analysis of Seminole's long-term resource plan, comparisons among alternative resource options, and resource optimization studies.
    • Collects and validates data inputs to the long-term production costing model.
    • Develops assumptions for use in the financial model for long-term financial forecasts.
    • Develops Seminole's Ten-Year Site Plan for submittal to the Florida Public Service Commission.
    • Evaluates alternative resource for support of major project financing from the Rural Utility Service (RUS).
    • Stays abreast of new technical developments, regulatory changes and requirements in the areas of generation planning.
    • Fulfills data request for various Southeast Regional Council (SERC) and Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) activities.
    • Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of utility resource planning experience or five (5) years of general electrical utility or related industries experience. Requires a strongly developed understanding of power resource planning principles and analytical tools. Proficiency in Planning and Risk (PaR) application software is highly preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.

    Working Conditions

    Some travel and work outside of normal business hours. While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment.
