    Job Profile Summary

    CAI is seeking a Senior Accountant for an onsite opportunity. This is a long-term opportunity based in Wilmington, DE.

    Duties & Responsibilities


    • This level is responsible for complex analysis, development of financial reports and recommendations and other assignments requiring a comprehensive, broad knowledge of accounting theories, principles, practices and procedures.
    • Determines most appropriate funds for charges; spot checks records and statements for accuracy; prepares adjustment vouchers and certifies payrolls.
    • Reviews, revises and institutes internal controls to ensure correct charging and accounting of disbursements and credits.
    • Reconciles multiple accounts of a complex nature.
    • Analyzes and evaluates financial data in the preparation of complex budgets and provides forecasts with supporting justification.
    • Provides complex analysis and information as part of overall program management.
    • Ensures fiscal conformance of grant budgets, purchases, drawing of funds and grant reporting to federal program rules and regulations.
    • May plan, assign and review the work of administrative support and/or non-exempt technical accounting staff; evaluates the performance of subordinates.

    • Knowledge of accounting theories, concepts, principles and standards.
    • Knowledge of state accounting methods and techniques.
    • Knowledge of general and governmental accounting principles.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and private laws, rules, regulations and procedures.
    • Knowledge of state and departmental computerized financial management systems, including data entry and correction procedures.
    • Knowledge of recordkeeping and report preparation techniques.
    • Ability to maintain accurate, current accounting records.
    • Ability to assemble and analyze financial and accounting data and make recommendations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals in state, local and federal government agencies and the general public.
    In addition to the above knowledge, skills and abilities, the Senior Accountant requires:


    • Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in complex financial and accounting data analysis.
    • Knowledge of federal grant and program accounting regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Ability to supervise staff.
    • Ability to make forecasts, utilizing financial records as basis for the projections.
    Physical Demands


    • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
    • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
    • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
