    Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe's growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more.

    Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms.

    Nutrition and Wellness (N&W) Commercial team is a high performance, fun team focused on expanding Ginkgo's synthetic biology platform in the Human and Animal Nutrition & Wellness field.

    We move fast and are a team of self starters who are passionate about our purpose and biased towards action towards growing our partnerships and business.

    As a Manager/Associate Director/ Director/Senior Director of Business Development for Commercial Cell Engineering - Nutrition and Wellness (N&W), you will be a core part of the N&W Business Development team at Ginkgo.

    You will be scouting new areas where Ginkgo's platform can effectively serve as a disruptive technology.

    Given your industry experience, you know the key players, understand the biotechnology field, keep up with emerging trends, and you can leverage your strong network to create an effective market strategy and sales pipeline.

    You also enjoy building relationships and teams and take a proactive approach to maximizing new and existing business opportunities.

    In your capacity as Director of Business Development, you will work with a cross-functional team comprising deal transaction, IP, legal, and technical program teams throughout all aspects of the proposal, negotiations and contract execution.

    Please note:

    This position is a remote role, however travel to our Boston office or other designated locations for offsite meetings or workshops will be required at least once per quarter.

    Responsibilites

    Develop new businesses for Ginkgo's synthetic biology platform
    Establish strategic partnerships
    Articulate new opportunities/fields to invest in supported by Market research and business cases
    Deliver against agreed objectives and key results (OKRs)
    Identify spin-off opportunities in the Nutrition and Wellness space and support their establishment with Ginkgo's VC partners
    Oversee network management and lead generation
    Help build Ginkgo's culture
    Attend and represent Ginkgo at vertical-related conferences and networking events
    Support marketing in vertical-related lead generation activities
    Work closely with internal stakeholders, and keep them apprised of new developments & needs in the N&W team
    Support Ginkgo's alliance managers in generating new business from partners
    Coach & mentor staff as appropriate in areas such as networking, customer engagement and interaction, deal structure, identification of new business opportunities
    Minimum Requirements

    Masters of Science Degree in Biology related fields
    10+ years of business development or sales experience in Biotechnology-please note

    Title/level will vary based on your education and experience
    Track record of successful deal structuring and execution
    Deep knowledge of the Nutrition sector
    Technically and Commercially savvy
    Preferred Capabilities and Experience

    Need to be a self starter i.e. be able to hit the ground running
    Have to be fired up about synthetic biology in N&W space
    Be convenient with cold reach-outs and building relationships with executive level leaders
    Be comfortable grasping and distilling synbio science to customer relevance
    Be able to lead conversations and new opportunities in short order
