    Description

    We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Portfolio Manager Associate to join our team. This role's primary function will be to monitor client portfolios and determine what to trade when necessary. As a member of the Portfolio Operations Team, the Portfolio Manager Associate is responsible for executing trades, completing trade processes, data management, managing reporting systems, and supporting portfolio management functions. You will be communicating directly with custodians for any information needed, processing trades, processing manual trade requests, generating quarterly reports, and managing Advisor and Portfolio Manager requests.

    The Portfolio Manager Associate has a significant amount of direct Advisor and Portfolio Manager contact. This position requires strong technical skills, extreme attention to detail, a positive professional attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment. This position offers a blend of consistency and precision, providing an opportunity for individuals who thrive in a collaborative and structured environment.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Trading & Portfolio Management

    • Conduct daily reviews of client portfolios using Tamarac trading software.
    • Trade order creation and execution. Place trades and rebalance portfolios (primarily in ETFs and mutual funds) with precision and tax efficiency.
    • Complete advisor trade requests in a timely manner.
    • Use independent judgment to determine when to override Tamarac's trade recommendations.
    • Work with 3rd party software, separate account managers, and custodian trade desks to execute trades cost-effectively.
    • Post-trade processing and resolving trade settlement issues promptly.
    • Regularly communicate with Advisors to best align trading with each client's financial situation.

    Portfolio Operations & Reporting

    • Provide client reporting support, and produce quarterly and ad hoc reports.
    • Conduct regular audits of system settings and trading data.
    • Propose and implement enhancements to trading processes, systems and workflows.
    • Support investment research projects and analysis as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Able to set priorities among a variety of tasks and varying volumes of work
    • Strong systems aptitude and background in operations (experience with trading and/or Tamarac a plus)
    • Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve​
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Impeccable ability to maintain confidentiality
    • A self-starter who takes accountability for his/her work
    • A team player who will thrive in a small company environment
    • Self-motivated to work both collaboratively and autonomously

    Education and Experience

    • 1 year of experience in the financial industry, required
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or similar field preferred, or commensurate career experience​
    • 2-3 years of demonstrated transferable trading or investment operations skills, preferred​
