    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    Job Summary:
    Under the general direction of theAssistant Vice Chancellor for Physical Plant, the Director of PhysicalPlant Facilities Management is responsible for leadership in facilitiesstaff operations, unit budget and financial statement review, unitexpenditures review, contracts and vendor relations, staff success,strategic planning, effective and efficient service, and supervisoryauthority


    Responsibilities:

    Organizes, evaluates, and manages the dailyphysical plant operations of assigned campuses and centers in a healthy,safe, and secure manner that is consistent with campus academic andstudent program needs, university policies, standards, and allapplicable regulatory agency codes.

    5% Manages and provides leadershipfor assigned facilities staff operations by prioritizing project work,ensuring supply inventory is maintained, and making routine inspectionsto ensure effective and efficient facilities services 15% Monitors unitbudget and processes invoices to ensure correct account designations,correct authorizations, fiscal accountability, and responsibility 15%Tracks project expenditures by costs for labor, materials, and vehiclesto ensure project cost effectiveness and timeliness 5% Contacts andcommunicates with contractors and vendors as needed to deliver the mostcost effective services that meet campus needs 20% Assists staff asneeded to contribute to efficient physical plant operations 10% Directsstrategic planning initiatives and establishes department objectives toensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffingresources in alignment with the strategic plan 10% Ensures effective andefficient maintenance service to all customers 20% Exercises supervisoryauthority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting,managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding,disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-timeequivalent (FTE) employees Institutional Statement on Diversity:Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation forUW-Madison.
