    Job Summary:


    Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Physical Plant, the Director of Physical Plant Facilities Management is responsible for leadership in facilities staff operations, unit budget and financial statement review, unit expenditures review, contracts and vendor relations, staff success, strategic planning, effective and efficient service, and supervisory authority.


    Responsibilities:


    Organizes, evaluates, and manages the daily physical plant operations of assigned campuses and centers in a healthy, safe, and secure manner that is consistent with campus academic and student program needs, university policies, standards, and all applicable regulatory agency codes.

    5% Manages and provides leadership for assigned facilities staff operations by prioritizing project work, ensuring supply inventory is maintained, and making routine inspections to ensure effective and efficient facilities services
    15% Monitors unit budget and processes invoices to ensure correct account designations, correct authorizations, fiscal accountability, and responsibility
    15% Tracks project expenditures by costs for labor, materials, and vehicles to ensure project cost effectiveness and timeliness
    5% Contacts and communicates with contractors and vendors as needed to deliver the most cost effective services that meet campus needs
    20% Assists staff as needed to contribute to efficient physical plant operations
    10% Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes department objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources in alignment with the strategic plan
    10% Ensures effective and efficient maintenance service to all customers

    20% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.

    With major studies in engineering preferred.

    Qualifications:


    Ten years' management and leadership experience in a complex organization with multiple stakeholders such as a higher education or state/municipal government setting.


    • At least five years' experience in supervising subordinate employees.
    • Ability to lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of expert service providers.
    • Understanding of or experience in delivering capital renewal program planning for a large property portfolio.
    • Experience with asset/facility life cycle management activities.
    • Experience developing and executing complex budgets.
    • Knowledge of process improvement, process implementation, and testing practices.
    • Ability to write technical reports and develop presentations.
    • Knowledge of data collection and analysis techniques.
    • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software tools including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to lead and facilitate groups and promote team building.
    • Ability to exercise a strong sense of priority and time management to effectively track the progress of multiple projects to ensure timely completion.
    • Ability to make intentional use of communications to support or advance organizational needs.
    • Ability to maintain a professional and serviceoriented relationship with customers and coworkers.

    It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

    The salary of this position is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
