    The Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute (LFKRI) at New York Blood Center (NYBC) is soliciting applications for Head of Medicinal Biology Core. LFKRI consists of faculty members with diverse expertise spanning basic and translational investigation into the cellular, molecular and biochemical basis of hematology and is the largest non-profit research institute of classical hematology in the world. Through multi-disciplinary research hubs that foster collaboration, LFKRI's dynamic and collaborative faculty are engaged in NIH-funded programs in stem cell and progenitor biology, immunobiology of blood disorders and transfusion therapy, infectious disease prevention and control, and genomics and data science.

    The successful candidate will provide expertise and resources in modern drug discovery and development to faculty and staff and to support active drug discovery efforts. The Core will play an integral role to in the following areas:

    • Molecular Signaling / Mechanism of Drug Action
    • Chemical Biology / Drug Discovery
    • Structure-function analysis of Drug-Receptor Complex
    • Systems Analysis of Drug Action
    • Drug Transport / Metabolism

    Candidates with expertise in structure-guided and computational drug design, and synthesis approaches for drug discovery are encouraged to apply. Experience in HTS assay development and expertise in in vivo testing of compounds for efficacy and safety is highly desirable.

    LFKRI is located along the Upper East Side in Manhattan, and neighbors world-class research universities that support a highly collaborative biomedical research environment. LFKRI faculty develop innovative, externally funded research programs supported by competitive research grants. LFKRI offers access to a wide variety of shared core facilities, including state-of-the-art flow cytometry, confocal and EM microscopy, GMP-compliant research spaces, internal IACUC and IRB support and access to the NYBC enterprise blood donor resources providing candidate faculty with an exciting opportunity to engage in collaborative cutting-edge research in transfusion and regenerative medicine.


    Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry. Success in delivering clinical candidates is highly desirable. The successful applicant will receive a substantial salary support commensurate with experience and rank, a comprehensive benefits package, modern research space, and will have access to the wealth of resources and core facilities available at LFKRI and neighboring world-class research universities.

    The successful applicant will be expected to develop and lead an outstanding extramurally funded research program, and contribute to the collaborative community and the mentoring mission of LFKRI.

    For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $124,980.00/year to $187,480.00/year. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant's skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
