Project Manager - San Diego, United States - Firestorm
Description
Project Manager
Join us at Firestorm as a project manager playing a pivotal role on our dynamic and growing team. You'll ensure the seamless execution of groundbreaking projects by collaborating with engineering, business development, and other team members. You'll ensure all project requirements are identified and coordinated including tracking milestones and dependencies across a variety of projects for timely completion. You'll utilize your experience and top-level skills to manage projects at both tactical and strategic levels to ensure the company achieves its quarterly and yearly objectives.
In addition to project management responsibilities, this role entails diverse tasks such as creating presentations; handling administrative duties; organizing key events; sourcing and engaging specialized consultants / contractors; and providing top-level organization. You'll work closely with our VP of Operations, serving as a thought partner in strategic decision-making.
Firestorm as a company grew out of the simple question: how does a US ally country with a respectively low defense budget deter an aggressor state entity with a vastly larger war chest? We're building the very answer to that question, something we call "democratized deterrence." Firestorm is a VC-backed, defense-meets-Silicon Valley technology company developing mission-adaptable aerial vehicles to put the power back into the hands of the operator. We aim to upend the current defense procurement cost paradigm by bringing world-class capabilities to bear at meaningfully lower costs.
Responsibilities:
● Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals.
● Develop and execute project plans, overseeing timelines, budgets, and resources.
● Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify and address project requirements.
● Identify and escalate risks; provide solution options while highlighting tradeoffs.
● Create presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
● Follow up on administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations.
● Provide top-level organization for specific events and initiatives.
● Research and recommend bespoke consultants, contractors, or other resources for specific challenges.
● Collaborate with the VP of Operations on strategic initiatives.
Skills and Experience Required:
● Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or other relevant disciplines. Prefer an advanced degree.
● Project management experience in a dynamic environment, preferably in the defense or other hard tech industry.
● Experience demonstrating strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
● Experience utilizing excellent communication and presentation skills.
● Demonstrated proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
● Proficiency with project management tools and software (ClickUp, Google Sheets, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
Bonus Skills / Experience:
● Background in engineering, product, or technology development.
● Product management or program management experience.
● Management consulting experience with a top-tier firm.
● Knowledge of emerging technologies in aerospace and defense.
● Mastery of ClickUp.
● Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
Other Requirements:
● Able to work in our San Diego office. A hybrid arrangement is possible after the employee is fully trained.
● Does not require visa sponsorship from Firestorm
Pay up to: $100,000 based on candidate's job qualifications. Eligible for company equity with Board approval.
We are Equal Opportunity Employer.
Firestorm's culture fosters collaboration, respect, and trust empowering us to do our best work.
Proud to be in Connect's "Class of 2024 Cool Companies"
