    Knitwear Design Assistant

    Job Summary:

    As a Knitwear Design Assistant at Cult Gaia, you will play a vital role in supporting the creative process of designing and developing knitwear collections. Working closely with the Senior Knitwear Designer, you will contribute to the creation of captivating and commercially viable designs that resonate with our target audience. You will assist in all aspects of the design process, ensuring that our knitwear offerings meet the highest standards of quality, innovation, and market relevance.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist Senior Knitwear Designer with technical design tasks.
    • Help create mood boards, color palettes, and knit downs for collections.
    • Update sketches and design packs for consistency and visual appeal.
    • Contribute to conceptualizing and developing seasonal knitwear collections in line with brand aesthetics and market trends.
    • Research and source materials for knitwear designs while ensuring quality and cost compliance.
    • Develop technical sketches and Tech Packs for knitwear designs.
    • Collaborate with Knit Product Developer to manage sample workflow.
    • Support pre-draping and fitting processes.
    • Record detailed fit notes during fittings and provide constructive feedback.
    • Maintain communication with knitwear factories for development.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for smooth project execution.
    • Maintain seasonal line guides for the Knitwear category.
    • Adhere to design calendar deadlines.
    • Assist with in-house alterations and sample management.
    • Organize seasonal stitch library and samples archive.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Knitwear Designer or Design Director.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
    • Previous experience (1-2 years) in knitwear design within the fashion industry.
    • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign.
    • Strong understanding of knitwear construction techniques, yarn characteristics, and garment manufacturing processes.
    • Excellent sketching and technical drawing skills, with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Creative flair and a passion for fashion, with a demonstrated ability to translate conceptual ideas into marketable designs.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
    • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to deadlines and priorities.
    • Flexibility to adapt to evolving design briefs and business requirements.
