    ZI Engineering is currently seeking qualified Construction Inspectors to perform special inspections on ongoing and upcoming projects throughout the NYC metro area.

    These positions offer opportunities for professional growth and advancement, as well as industry-specific certifications and on-site training

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    The key responsibilities of this role encompass daily travel to diverse project sites, overseeing construction activities, and employing relevant field-testing methods and equipment to carry out essential field and building inspections and testing. Additionally, the role involves conducting all necessary testing as mandated by the project and client to verify conformity with project plans and specifications.

    Furthermore, critical duties involve the creation of Daily Field Reports, conveying identified shortcomings in the field to project managers, contractors, or client representatives, and deciphering project-related drawings and documents. The position also encompasses any other tasks as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Construction Inspectors must possess a HS Diploma/equivalent and possess/maintain one or more of the certifications or additional education as detailed below (or similar); certifications must be currently valid:
    • ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector
    • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade I
    • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
    • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
    • ICC M2- Commercial Mechanical Special Inspector
    • ICC- Spray Applied Fire Proofing Special Inspector
    • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
    • Ability to successfully complete required OSHA training within a reasonable time period.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of building inspection codes and requirements in order to carry out testing, including, but not limited to, International Building Codes, ASTM Standards, and TMS standards.
    • Must be detail oriented.
    • Requires a valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to and transport testing equipment to various project sites primarily throughout the New York City metro area, as regular daily travel is required.
