    JOB TITLE : Special Inspector

    SALARY : $55,898 (Non-Negotiable)

    SUMMARY :

    Under direction with considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the incumbent will perform sick leave investigations relating to MTA NYCT employees, maintaining a log of daily activities, report writing, attending, and testifying at hearings. Incumbent will also be required to perform time and attendance field audits as well as issue disciplinary action notifications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Discovers and reports infractions of the Authority's rules and regulations.
    • Observes actions of employees who handle Authority revenue or who dispose of obsolete Authority property; reports improper actions by such employees.
    • Investigates and prepares reports relative to availability and fraud.
    • Makes confidential investigations of Authority employees, as directed.
    • In connection with performance of duties, may issue summonses and make arrests.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of NYC Transit Policies, Rules/Regulations, MTA All-Agency Policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to interact with all levels of management and union personnel.
    • Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
    • Proficient computer skills including PeopleSoft/EIS and MS Office.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

    REQUIRED:

    • A four (4) year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two (2) years of full-time experience as an investigator, of which one (1) year must have been as an investigator in the field; or
    • A satisfactory equivalent combination of Education and/or Experience.
