Trauma Medical Director - Chief of Acute Care Surgery
**Job Description:**
The Lahey hospital and Medical Center, is seeking outstanding candidates for the position of Trauma Medical Director (TMD) and Director of Acute Care Surgery with an exemplary record of patient care and expertise in Trauma, Acute Care, and Surgical Critical Care. Candidates must be board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and be a Fellow in good standing of the American College of Surgeons. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated experience in a trauma center and/or system leadership and excellent communication and collaboration skills. Documentation of scholarly activities in the field of Trauma / Acute Care Surgery is preferred. Applicant must have all requirements met by time of hire. Applicants materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission.
The Trauma Medical Director will provide clinical leadership in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and work closely with the Director of Surgical Critical Care. The Trauma Director will direct the multidisciplinary functions of the trauma program, and serve as the medical liaison between trauma team members and hospital administration. The TMD is responsible for ensuring that the quality of trauma patient care provided at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is commensurate with the institutions designation as a Level 1 center. Additionally, the TMD, in conjunction with the Trauma Program Manager, will have primary responsibility for maintaining the Level I status of the Trauma Center. The TMD will also help develop institutional policies and procedures and protocols to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of trauma care.
Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Departments residency training and educational programs.
