    Summary of Position:

    The senior accountant is responsible for timely and accurate reporting of oil & gas lease production and sales data for purposes of compliance with royalty and tax reporting regulations.

    Primary Job Responsibilities:

    • Monthly reconciliation of tax, royalty and pre-paid accounts.
    • Accurately report volumes, values, deductions, and taxes by product.
    • Ensure timely payment of all taxes and royalties (State & Federal).
    • Communicate with other departments to keep informed of operational changes and land issues.
    • Prepare account analysis and reconciliation for revenue regulatory related accounts.
    • Respond to royalty related inquiries.
    • Follow all established internal controls or revenue accounting.
    • Stay current with federal and state regulations and initiatives and communicate changes as needed.
    • Record and monitor prior period adjustments monthly or as needed.
    • Provide support for the revenue accruals process.
    • Maintain organized files with supporting documentation of work performed for all functions.
    • Assure all work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
    • Assist in providing functional advice or training to other revenue accountants.
    • Help in identifying training needs and assist in ongoing coaching and development opportunities for team members to improve their accounting and industry knowledge.
    • Assist upper management in resolving complex accounting issues or challenges that arise.
    • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

    • Utilizes exceptional critical thinking skills to analyze complex problems, assess various perspectives, and develop innovative solutions that drive informed decision-making and enhance overall organizational efficiency.
    • Demonstrates unwavering high integrity and consistently upholds ethical standards while maintaining a strong work ethic to ensure the highest level of trust and accountability in all responsibilities.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business, or Finance, or an equivalent of an additional 5 years of experience required.
    • Minimum 6 years of experience in oil & gas production, revenue settlement, general ledger accounting concepts and reporting regulations and requirements.
    • Proficient in Microsoft 360 products (Outlook, Excel, Word) required with advanced skills in Excel in particular.
    • Certified Public Accountant license a plus.
    • BOLO, Excalibur, or other P2 system experience a plus.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
    • Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
