    About DESC:

    DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) is a nonprofit organization working to assist individuals facing homelessness, substance use disorders, and serious mental illness in achieving optimal health and well-being through comprehensive services, treatment, and housing. The vision is to create a community where every individual is supported and homelessness is eradicated.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Joining a diverse team, you will conduct thorough assessments, chemical dependency screenings, crisis interventions, and engagement with adults referred to the CDIS.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct comprehensive assessments, crisis interventions, and engagement with referred adults
    • Develop and implement plans to engage clients successfully in services
    • Follow up with clients to ensure linkages to services
    • Complete all necessary data collection and documentation
    • Establish positive relationships with service providers
    • Comply with program procedures and regulations
    • Advocate for clients' access to resources and services
    • Participate in meetings and trainings
    • Assist in de-escalation and interventions in crisis situations
    • Work effectively in team settings and independently when required
    • Maintain positive relationships with the community
    • Perform additional assigned duties

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current Washington Department of Health minimum credentials as an Agency Affiliated Counselor
    • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or relevant behavioral science
    • Meet criteria as a Mental Health Professional per regulations
    • Pass a Washington State background check
    • Experience working with challenging mentally ill individuals
    • Knowledge of various treatment approaches and principles
    • Strong communication and assessment skills
    • Availability for flexible hours
    • Valid Washington state driver's license
    • Familiarity with crisis response systems
    • Understanding of mental health recovery principles
    • Knowledge of community resources
    • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds
    • Subscribe to program values

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Licensed Social Worker or equivalent
    • Fluency in Spanish/English
    • Experience in crisis intervention
    • Additional certifications in the field
    • Positive and empathetic approach to client interactions

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The job involves long periods of sitting, communication, lifting, and computer operation. Specific vision abilities are required.

    Salary: $79, $87,886.56 annually
