    Introduction:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. This position offers the opportunity to work under the guidance of our Executive Chef in a fast-paced and creative environment. We emphasize a drug-free workplace and all viable candidates will undergo pre-employment screenings and background checks.

    Reports To: Executive Chef

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible culinary experience, specifically in high-volume, quality-focused establishments.
    • Culinary degree or significant relevant experience.
    • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and discipline a diverse team of culinary professionals.

    Job Summary: The Sous Chef will provide both culinary and administrative support to the Executive Chef. You will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our kitchen, ensuring high standards of food production, menu implementation, and team management. In the absence of the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will assume full leadership of the kitchen operations.

    Essential Functions:

    • Assist in designing and implementing menus that reflect the outlet's culinary direction.
    • Supervise and mentor a diverse team of chefs and cooks, ensuring high-quality culinary creations.
    • Manage daily food production, ensuring consistency and superior quality.
    • Oversee purchasing, inventory, and kitchen equipment maintenance.
    • Maintain a professional management demeanor and enforce high standards among the team.
    • Innovate new dishes and improve plate presentations.
    • Manage food and labor costs effectively.
    • Represent the Executive Chef in meetings and briefings as required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Frequent lifting of items weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, and squatting.
    • Ability to work in a hot environment near stoves and ovens.
    • Good sensory skills to avoid potential hazards in the kitchen.

    Equipment Used:

    • Kitchen appliances such as mixers, slicers, blenders, ovens, and gas stoves.
