    Overview:

    The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is one of the premier Division I schools in the country and one of four Division I schools in the state of Wisconsin.

    Currently, UWM offers 15 sports at the NCAA Division I level, with more than 300 student-athletes in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, men's and women's swimming and diving, women's volleyball, women's tennis, and baseball.


    Responsibilities:
    Reporting to the Associate AD-Communications, this position will serve as a communications assistant in the athletics communications department. This position is primarily responsible for the publicity and media relations duties of its assigned sports.

    Those duties include weekly previews, game recaps, media guides/record books, website maintenance, press releases, statistical record-keeping and game day operations.

    Other duties include the promotion of assigned sports to local/national media, assist with the creation of social media content and fulfill game day roles at volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball, and baseball games as assigned and other duties as assigned by the Associate AD-Communications.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree, or combination of education and relevant work experience. Previous experience with Stat Crew and/or Genius statistical software is preferred.

    Experience in communications, media relations, or public relations in collegiate or professional sports environment or a related field is also preferred.


    Skills:
    Demonstrate excellence with verbal and written communication skills (as evidenced by application materials and interviews, where applicable). Experience in video editing for social media helpful for position.

    Appointment:
    This position is a 10-month appointment with anticipated start date of August 12th, 2024. Candidates must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    Salary:

    This position includes an hourly wage for $15 per hour with expectation that the successful candidate will work an average of 25 hours per week.

    Schedule is very flexible based around athletic events.
